Class helps mental health charity simplify their telecoms administration and save money

Hafal – established in April 2003 – works with individuals recovering from severe mental illness and now has 112 staff and 150 volunteers providing support to over 640 people a day across Wales.

As the organisation has grown, it became apparent that the approach to telecoms was in need of review. ‘Things had started to get complicated’, said Barbara Richards of Hafal’s finance department.

“Our supplier was sending some bills to individual sites and other bills direct to head office. They were coming in at different times during the quarter and the lack of uniformity was proving a real headache.

We also weren’t being given a great of support or advice in terms of tidying up our telecoms and billing.”

At this stage, Barbara decided to contact Class Telecommunications – the voluntary sector’s telecom specialists and the only supplier endorsed by WCVA, NCVO and the SCVO.

“Moving over to a new telecoms supplier can be a daunting prospect, but Class’s experience in dealing with voluntary organisations and the affinity with WCVA gave us the confidence to give them a call,’ Barbara added.

In November last year we moved all our telecoms over to Class and it has made a big difference. The billing is now much more efficient and staff from Class have visited us every month to review the bills and advise us on where we can make further efficiency savings – they couldn’t be more helpful.

We have saved a lot of money with them and the level of personal service we have received has been extremely valuable.”
